Who We Are

We dream, strategise and organise as a small team composed of artists, curators and creative practitioners based in Glasgow. A central frame to our organising principles is to acknowledge the complex breadth and scope of our individual practices as being vital to the vision, shape and delivery of our work. It is necessary for Body Remedy to enable space and flexibility for team members to be resourced to inhabit the their creative practices, in the understanding that this enables affirming, focused and dynamic contributions in allowing us to centre lived experience as a critical component to our specialist approach of resourcing BPOC multi-artform practices holistically and from multiple perspectives.

Each former or current member of our operating team has crucially informed the insight and conviction of our programmes, values and practices. Though every team member leads the direction of their programme, until we secure multi-year funding our structure consists of core team members whose work runs throughout the entire year and programme producers who are responsible for delivering our imperative projects.

Our core team holds the year-round life of Body Remedy across the strategic vision, operational infrastructure, research and relationships through which our programmes take shape and stay resourced.

Kai Khidir Hassan

Director
Operations, Visual Branding & Communications
Kai holds the operational and visual coherence of Body Remedy. They steward the systems, schedules and productions that allow our programmes to move with care and clarity, while shaping how the organisation is seen and felt in the world. They attend to our visual identity across media platforms to the strategic public communication of each programme's distinct character.

Kai's role bridges the internal and the public-facing, ensuring that the way we organise ourselves and the way we present ourselves remain in integral alignment to one another.

Director Żżo's comments about their role: XX.
Żżo holds how Body Remedy arrives at its future. Their work begins in reflection, attending to the actions, movements and trajectories of the organisation and alchemising them into a position and a language. It is this particular alchemy that becomes the work of bridging to connect the long-term dreaming of the organisation to its manifestation in the immediate. This takes shape through fundraising strategy, governance, strategic partnerships and the consolidation of the systems that give our dreaming structural ground.

Rooted in their research, curatorial and writing practice, Żżo develops equity-focused organisational models and intersectional holistic frameworks that anchor us back to what Body Remedy aims to be.

Director Kai’s comments about their role: “They seed the steps so we can paint the flowers.”
