Music & Movement Programme

Music & Movement is our longest running programme starting in 2020, which evolved from a sole focus on body-based practices to a co-facilitated structure. Each year since 2023 we invite a movement or performance practitioner and a sound artist, musician or DJ to open a collaborative dialogue and experiment with how each practice influences and supports the other in designing and holding a workshop. The invitation extends practices into alternative settings to form new creative relationships and tangible experiences of sharing independent practices. Participants experience a curated experimental workshop where sound and movement are essential material for teaching and learning, deepening bodily, relational and spatial awareness.

The music & movement programme is our most apparent approach to exercising embodied practices as a way to connect to our agency. Through curated movement listening and approaches rooted in diasporic knowledge a space is made to attend to shared experience of expression and presence. Over six years our workshops have brought together practitioners and participants across generations and backgrounds which holds intimate moments alongside longer-term relationship building, seeding future collaborations and new artistic work.

Sessions are free and require no prior experience with any of the practices shared in the workshops. This recognises the reality that access to bespoke practices is often limited by time, finances and capacity.
