Artist Fellowship Programme
Body Remedy's Artist Fellowship (BRAF) is a one year programme working with three artists established in their practices. The fellowship resources what is necessary for artists to work both creatively and strategically, threading each practice in conversation with the artist's reflective past, embodied present and desired future.
Our purpose behind this fellowship is responsive to a sector where artist development is often compressed into short cycles and measured against determined outcomes, which asks artists to perform an ‘evidence of progress’ rather than enrich their practices. We know that relational structures of consistent producing and unhurried resourcing nourish the conditions for a supported artistic practice.
This programme is delivered in partnership with David Dale Gallery, National Theatre of Scotland and Imaginate.
BRAF 2025/26 fellows are Sequoia Danielle Barnes, Frankie Mulholland and Plantainchipps.
How the fellowship works:
Fellows join through nomination and invitation from within our ecology of creative practitioners and past participants, in recognition of their essential creative labour
The fellowship is designed around each artist's own priorities, and support plans are co-developed between the artist, producer and wider Body Remedy Core Team
Fellows shape how Body Remedy is situated within their process
Outcome requirements are minimal and optional, and the final sharing arrives as a marker within an ongoing practice rather than a finished product
The programme evolved from our former Associate Artist Programme, which piloted the frameworks of artist-centred practices and relational structure
Each fellow receives:
An artist grant
Dedicated producer support of five hours each month
Mentoring and research conversations grant
Artist portraits
A materials budget
A residency
